Ann & Jane Esselstyn - Pita Chips
I've never been able to find any oil-free pita bread around here, whether white flour or whole grain. I've also never been able to find any gluten-free pita. I tried making my own pita years ago when I was still eating wheat and they never puffed up into pockets, just stayed thick slabs of bread, so that suggestion is out, too.
I'm sure somewhere out there you can find McDougall/Esselstyn-safe pita bread, and maybe even a gluten-free one. But for now, I'm just glad nobody in this house is even looking for any kind of chip to eat.

Cheezy Chickpeas, Take 2
Back in August 2017 I mention a dish called Cheezy Chickpeas that was making the rounds over on the Engine 2 Seven Day Rescue Facebook group. It's been a regular in this family for both lunch and dinner ever since.
A week or so ago someone did a What I Eat In A Day post and showed a potful of mixed beans made into Cheezy Chickpeas. Wow! Now why didn't *I* think of that?
So today I needed a little comfort food, thanks to minor surgery for an ingrown toenail yesterday that still stings like the Dickens today, so decided I would whip up a batch of 3-Bean Cheezy Chickpeas using a can each of garbanzos, dark red kidney, and pinto beans. I started the bowl off with some peeled and sliced baked potato, added a pound of steamed broccoli, and topped it off with a ladle full of the cheezy beans.
To answer your question, Yes, it does taste as good as it looks! LOL
Besides what's in the bowl I put away 3 1-cup containers of it for the next few days' lunches.
Now who would want to wander away from eating the McDougall way when food like this is available?

Dr. Brooke Goldner's Goodbye Lupus! Classes
I first heard of Dr. Goldner (Goodbye Lupus) while watching an interview with another WFPB doc, Dr. Joel Kahn. She cured her own lupus and now teaches others how to do what she did. Hint: A ton of green smoothies as well as a raw vegetable diet is involved in the "healing" portion of treatment.
She runs these video classes every few months and always has Q&A periods after each one. That portion of each of these videos runs longer than her class itself, which run about 50 minutes each. The first 2 videos run a bit over 2 hours each, but the third one goes for over 5 hours!
I doubt I would ever follow her hyper-nutrition protocols - I mean, who wants to live on green smoothies, a gallon of water, and raw vegetables every day - but she does give a lot of information, especially on auto-immune diseases.
I don't know how long these videos will be available on YouTube, so grab them while you can.
First class: The Foods Keeping You Sick
Dangers of meat, oil and dairy; basics of auto-immune diseases.
Second class: The Foods You Need to Heal
In this class' Q&A she tells how Dr. Esselstyn and his wife Ann were now drinking green smoothies, at least the day after they spoke with her.
Third class: 6 Steps to Reversing Disease with Supermarket Foods
It may take me a few days to get through this one. She had said there would be a lot of testimonial videos, as well as more details about the food plan and her coaching classes.

Ann & Jane & Dr Essy & Brian & Their Daugher - Oats 4 Ways
Ann's savory oats are on the stove, Dr. Essy makes his dry, their grand daughter shows her overnight oats, and Brian makes his like me - in the microwave - but I add my fruit before nuking it.

Article - Things You Should NOT Say To Someone With MCTD
I laughed, I cried, I hated that so many of these were said to me by my own doctors!
Read the article Things You Should NOT Say To Someone With MCTD on the Cook for Me Baby web site. The photos that accompany the article are great.
Ignore the recipe section, though. Unfortunately, that's the diet most recommended by doctors, especially rheumatologists, for people with auto-immune issues like mine.
