Dr. Klaper - Beyond Cholesterol - Freeing Yourself from the Tyranny of Your Cholesterol Numbers

I've seen some of these slides and graphics in talks by Dr. Esselstyn, also, especially the part about "foam" cells developing. It may have been in Dr. Essy's presentation at last year's Plantstock.

Plant Strong Podcast - Rip Esselstyn

A few months ago, Rip Esselstyn started his own podcast series called The Plant Strong Podcast. I listened to a few episodes, then forgot about it, because, well, I don't usually do podcasts and rarely open the podcast app on my iPad Mini, and unless someone gives me a poke and says "Listen to this!" I just don't do it. It's also available on-line, so no app necessary, only a browser that can play audio files, but I have the same problem. With my hearing disorder, listening to things is sometimes hard, so I always miss out on so much.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Rip (or someone in his organization) has put these podcasts up on YouTube! And they enabled the closed caption feature, too! OK, YouTube captions are voice capture, not a human looking at a transcript and typing the captions in like the best TV shows and movies do, but it's better than nothing.

So far I only got through the first 2 episodes - one with his dad and one with his mom as special guests - but I've enjoyed them. With this heat wave we're having, we're spending a lot of time indoors. While my husband watches things like The Cape Canaveral Monster and The Unknown Terror on the TV, I can pop my earbuds in and listen to a few more of these gems.

Here's the page with the Plant Strong Podcast Playlist, and here's the first episode, where Rip introduces Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn as well as Firefighter Joe Inga, whose story Rip will be following in these episodes.

Jeff Novick at the Hyatt Regency 2013 - Throw Back Thursday

My favorite Jeff Novick graphic from his FaceBook page

Click each chart for full size graphic from Jeff's Facebook page.

Lighten Up: Weighing In on the Weight Debate lecture
Calorie Density: How to Eat More, Weigh Less lecture

Should I Eat That talk

I was about to say that different versions of these talks are available for purchase, but VegSource and Dr. McDougall's store no longer have them for sale. You can find the Caloric Density talk from one of the McDougall seminars on YouTube:

but only a clip or 2 from the other talks.

You can find them all for sale on Amazon, but the individual people selling them now want around $45 each - more than double the original price of $20. Maybe for his birthday Jeff will release another one of these on YouTube like he did with the Caloric Density one back in October 2016.

Ew!

"What's worse than finding a worm in your apple? HALF a worm!"

Well, what's worse than finding a dead caterpillar in your lunch bowl? That's right - HALF a dead caterpillar! And that's what I found in my bowl just a short time ago.

So much for finishing up those open bags of frozen veggies in the freezer. I have no idea if it came from the broccoli, cauliflower, or mixed veggies. It was just *there* in the bowl after I got about 1/4 of the way down.

I was so annoyed at the discovery, but my poor husband, who's already super nervous about tomorrow's cataract surgery on the other eye, was nearly gagging. "Hey, it wasn't in *YOUR* bowl, so why the noise??" He just walked out of the room. Poor guy always did have a delicate tummy.

I picked through the rest of the bowl but didn't find the other half, and I don't want to think about where it might be. I tossed out the rest of the food, but it makes me never want to eat a frozen vegetable ever again!!
